Brooklyn school recognized among New York City’s outstanding nonprofit organizations for its impact on Deaf, DeafBlind and Deaf Disabled children and families
NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, August 11, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf (SFDS) has been named a finalist in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA) category of the 6th Annual NYC Imagine Awards, recognizing the school’s work to create meaningful educational opportunities, access and community for Deaf, DeafBlind and Deaf Disabled children and their families.
For more than 65 years, SFDS has served children throughout New York City through a language-rich educational environment designed around the individual communication, learning and developmental needs of its students. Beyond the classroom, SFDS works alongside families through programs and initiatives that strengthen connection, expand access to resources and create opportunities for children to thrive.
“Being named an NYC Imagine Awards finalist is an incredible honor and a reflection of the work our entire community does every day,” said Dr. Jodi L. Falk, Executive Director of St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf. “Our students and families are at the heart of everything we do. This recognition belongs to our educators, staff, families, supporters and, most importantly, our students, who continue to inspire us to imagine what is possible.”
Nearly 200 nonprofit organizations applied for consideration across six categories: Innovation, Leadership Excellence, Rising Star, Social Impact, Arts & Culture and DEIA. SFDS is one of four finalists selected in the DEIA category.
Finalists were selected by New York City business and nonprofit professionals during preliminary judging, with the winners chosen by the NYC Imagine Awards Distinguished Judging Panel. Winners in each category will receive a $5,000 award and will be announced live at the 6th Annual NYC Imagine Awards on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Guastavino’s in New York City.
“The Imagine Awards honors the best of the best, so being named an Imagine Award finalist is a big deal,” said NYC Imagine Awards founder Ken Cerini of Cerini & Associates, LLP. “All of the finalists are incredible with extremely effective, innovative, and impactful operations … they are truly making a difference for all of us.”
